B-METS WIN 4-1

B-Mets Go Wire-to-Wire to Take Finale, 5-1
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Mets grabbed an early lead and never looked back in a 5-1 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Kyle Johnson collected two hits, an RBI and two runs scored to lead the B-Mets to solidify the two-game series split.
Xorge Carrillo started a brief two-out rally in the second inning with a double to right. Maikis De La Cruz followed with a double of his own, scoring Carrillo to put the B-Mets on top 1-0.
The lead swelled in the third beginning with Johnson led off with a single. L.J. Mazzilli then singled, advancing Johnson to third. In the ensuing at bat, Niuman Romero bounced into a double play that allowed Johnson to score for a 2-0 Binghamton advantage.
It remained 2-0 until the seventh when Harrisburg reliever Robert Fish issued back-to-back walks to De La Cruz and Matt Oberste. Johnson then deposited a double into shallow left, scoring De La Cruz and pushing Oberste to third. Oberste then came in to score on a Mazzilli sacrifice fly that advanced Johnson to third. Romero followed with a weak grounder to short that Wilmer Difo threw over the head of Spencer Kieboom, allowing Johnson to score from third and the B-Mets led 5-0.
The Senators loaded the bases with two singles and a walk against David Roseboom in the eighth. Kieboom squirted a weak grounder towards Roseboom that was bobbled as Shawn Pleffner came in to score to put Harrisburg on the board in a 5-1 game.
Rainy Lara (1-0) picked up the win for Binghamton with five shutout innings in which he allowed seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Austen Williams (0-1) took the loss in his Double-A debut with eight hits and two runs in six innings.
