ACCORD--No offensive punch and strong
pitching by Rondout Valley's Tori Decker were the story-lines in
Liberty's 8-1 loss to Rondout Valley Tuesday in the Section 9 Class B
softball quarterfinal at Accord.
Liberty coach Matt Stoddard detailed
the outcome of the game stating "usually we are a pretty good hitting
team but the bats did not come alive today."
The Ganders didn't waste any time
getting on the scoreboard as they pounced on Liberty pitcher Katy Decker
in the bottom of the first inning as Mackenzie Fischer was safe at
first on a fielding error by Liberty shortstop Jen Lopez, Gigi Koch hit
a double to deep center field putting runners on second and third and

offense Rondout Valley needed although they added one run in the second
inning, another run in the fifth and three additional runs in the
sixth.
Liberty's solo run came in the top of
the seventh when Camryn England singled to left field, Jen Lopez was
safe on a ground ball error putting runners on first and second. Olivia
Racette hit a single to center field scoring England.

complemented his pitcher saying "she's been strong for us all year and
did an outstanding job today."
"That first inning home run really got us off to a fast start," Fischer added.
