Ruben Tejada Mashes Two Home Runs
Moosic, Pa. –
The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) pounded out eight
extra-base hits and defeated the Syracuse Chiefs 9-3 on Saturday evening
at PNC Field. The RailRiders (15-12) claimed their fifth series in the
last six and have won seven of their last 10. The Chiefs (9-16) have
dropped nine of their last 10 overall.
Luis Cessa (2-2) took home the win in relief of starter Bryan Mitchell.
Mitchell fired three innings in his season debut with SWB, allowing a
solo home run to Brian Goodwin and striking out five. Cessa fired the
final six frames, allowing a two-run homer to Brandon Snyder as part of
five hits. He struck out four and walked three.
SWB tagged Chiefs
starter Joe Ross (0-2) for seven runs on eight hits over his five
innings of work. He walked two and struck out four.
Ruben Tejada led the charge by launching two homers and driving in four. Ji-Man Choi doubled twice and plated a run. Clint Frazier reached three times. He laced his 10th double of the season to right in the fifth and tallied a run on a sac-fly to center.
Dustin Fowler extended
his hitting streak to 10 games with his International League-leading
fifth triple in the first inning. He also recorded a run-scoring single
in the sixth. Tyler Wade got in on the act with a triple of his own, his second, in the sixth. Mark Payton doubled as part of his 2-for-4 evening.

sweep against the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals) on Sunday at
1:05 p.m. from PNC Field. Right-hander Chad Green (2-1, 4.73) gets the nod for SWB against right-hander Greg Ross (1-1, 5.40).
