Frazier Powers RailRiders to Sixth Straight Win
Clint Frazier Rips Two Doubles, Wallops Homer in Victory
Moosic, Pa. –
The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) saw a five-run lead
evaporate quickly in the ninth inning, but held on to outlast the
Pawtucket Red Sox 11-10 in 11 innings on Thursday at PNC Field. The
RailRiders (22-16) swept the four-game set from the PawSox (15-21) and
have won seven straight at home.
After tying the
game 10-10 in the ninth on a grand slam by Matt Dominguez, the PawSox
were held scoreless over the final two innings by Joe Mantiply (2-2). The southpaw yielded two hits and struck out one. Kyle Martin (0-2) surrendered the winning run in the last of the 11th.
Clint Frazier rebounded
from a groundout in the first inning by mashing his sixth home run of
the year out to center field for a 6-2 lead. He followed that with a
double to center in the seventh for his second knock. His third hit of
the day was his biggest, scoring Rob Refsnyder on a double to left-center for the deciding tally.
Refsnyder extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a single to left in the first. He finished with two hits. Tyler Wade stroked a double as part of a two-hit day. Mike Ford thundered his third round-tripper in as many days on a three-run blast to right in the first inning. Ruben Tejada scorched his fifth long ball of the year on a liner to left in the third.
The
2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders begin a three-game,
weekend series with the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) at 6:35
