RailRiders' Finale with Pawtucket Rained Out
Sunday's Game Canceled, Will Not be Made Up
Moosic, Pa. –
Persistent rain at PNC Field forced the SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New
York Yankees) to cancel their series finale with the Pawtucket Red Sox
on Sunday. The two teams do not meet again in the 2016 regular season
and it will not be made up.
The RailRiders (80-48) entered Sunday with a magic number of seven to
clinch a postseason berth. Rain also washed out the Lehigh Valley
IronPigs' final tilt in Syracuse, keeping SWB's division lead in the
International League North at four games.
SWB begins a two-game set against the second-place IronPigs on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Richard Bleier (2-2,
2.76) will start for the RailRiders. The RailRiders return home on
Friday, August 26 to take on the Rochester Red Wings. The team will
change their name for one night only to the "Pierogies" in celebration
of the tasty little dumplings. For tickets or more information, please
call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
