Barbasol, PBA Sign Two-Year Barbasol PBA Players Championship Agreement
PBA major championship returns to Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in February
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Aug. 29, 2016) – The Professional
Bowlers Association and Barbasol have agreed to a two-year partnership
agreement that will return the Barbasol PBA Players Championship to
Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in 2017 and 2018, PBA CEO and Commissioner
Tom Clark announced today.
The
2017 Barbasol PBA Players Championship, a major championship on the
2017 PBA Tour schedule, will conclude with live ESPN television coverage
on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. ET.
Barbasol’s
continuing role as the Official Shaving Cream of the PBA will also
include jersey sponsorship of the PBA League’s Motown Muscle team, which
will be part of the 2017 PBA League Elias Cup competition in Portland,
Maine, in April.
Under
Barbasol’s sponsorship, the PBA Players Championship returned to PBA
major title status in 2016 when PBA rookie Graham Fach of Guelph,
Ontario, won the $40,000 first prize and became the first Canadian ever
to win a PBA Tour title.
Barbasol
has been a key PBA partner since 2013 when the Barbasol PBA Tournament
of Champions was held at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, the city where
Barbasol was invented in 1919. The
PBA Players Championship in Columbus now brings the event closer to the
company’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities, which are based in Ohio.
“We
are very proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the PBA,”
said John Price, President of Perio, Inc. “Barbasol’s rich legacy of
sports sponsorships and strong American heritage are a great fit with
the PBA and its loyal fan base, and we’re excited to keep the Barbasol
Players Championship in Columbus, Ohio.”
The two-year agreement, PBA CEO and Commissioner Tom Clark said, will help all parties associated with the event.
“The
PBA is extremely excited to not only renew our relationship with
Barbasol, but to expand it to 2018 which gives all parties, including
our players, a chance to build upon a great event,” said PBA CEO and
Commissioner Tom Clark. “It’s a great opportunity for our host center,
the Columbus bowling community and for PBA fans around the world, and we
thank Barbasol for helping make that happen.”
