RailRiders Wallop IronPigs for Seventh Straight Win
SWB Hurlers Combine for MiLB-Best 20th Shutout
Moosic, Pa.
– The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) rolled over the
Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10-0 for their seventh straight win on Wednesday
night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (74-43) have won 11 in a row at home
and four straight over the IronPigs (70-47). The RailRiders own 20
shutout victories, the most in MiLB and a franchise record.
Dietrich Enns
(6-2) worked around two hits and three walks to spin six scoreless
innings. The left-hander struck out four. David Buchanan (8-7) was hit
for six runs, five earned, on nine knocks in just 4.1 innings.
SWB got the scoring started early when Aaron Judge plated Ben Gamel with a single to right in the first. The RailRiders followed with two more runs in the second on a groundout by Cito Culver and a base hit to right by Gamel.
Judge
brought the fans to their feet in the third stanza when he homered on a
line drive to center field. The shot was his 18th of the season.
A six-run fifth inning broke the game wide open. Tyler Austin made it 5-0 SWB by plating two runs with his second double of the night, a line drive to the left field wall. Donovan Solano followed with a run-scoring hit to center. After Pete Kozma reached on a throwing error, Culver singled home two more for a 9-0 lead. Clint Frazier capped the inning with a double to score Culver for the final margin.
Gamel,
Frazier, Austin and Solano all collected three hits in the win. Culver
tallied three RBI and Judge finished with the homer and two RBI.
The RailRiders seek a series sweep against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Thursday, August 11, at PNC Field. Right-hander Luis Cessa (6-3,
3.03) opposes left-hander Anthony Vasquez (2-0, 3.16). The summer-long
“Legends Series” continues with a special appearance by Lenny Dykstra
and postgame fireworks, presented by Radisson at Lackawanna Station
