RAILRIDERS CONTIUE WINNING 4-2

RailRiders Earn Eighth Straight Win at PNC Field
Clint Frazier Blasts First Triple-A Home Run

Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) got a boost from Clint Frazier’s first Triple-A home run and rallied past the Syracuse Chiefs 4-2 on Saturday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (71-43) have won eight straight at home, five in a row against the Chiefs (51-63) and four straight overall.

Brady Lail (5-3) shook off early trouble to fire a quality start. The right-hander limited the Chiefs to two runs on three hits across six innings, including 12 straight retired at one point. He walked two and struck out five. Kirby Yates tossed a perfect ninth for his fourth save with SWB.

Lucas Giolito (1-1), the Washington Nationals’ top pitching prospect per Baseball America, shouldered his first Triple-A loss after allowing three runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Ben Gamel helped the RailRiders stake a 1-0 advantage in the first inning. The All-Star drew a leadoff walk and swiped second for his team-leading 19th stolen base. A throwing error by catcher Jhonatan Solano advanced Gamel to third. Aaron Judge lined a single to left to bring Gamel in.

Syracuse grabbed two runs off Lail in the second frame. Jason Martinson doubled inside third and scored on a throwing error by Donovan Solano trying to turn a double play off a grounder by Jhonatan Solano. Jose Lozada shot a triple passed a diving Gamel, and into deep center, to plate Solano for a 2-1 Chiefs lead.

Down one in the third, Judge worked a walk to open the frame. After a single by Chris Parmelee, Solano scored Judge on a double to left that tied the game.

With two out in the fourth, Frazier crushed a 3-2 pitch onto the pedestrian bridge beyond left for his first Triple-A home run. The shot put the RailRiders up to stay, 3-2.

Doubles by Tyler Austin and Solano off reliever Bryan Harper in the fifth scored the final tally. Solano’s third double of the night tied a franchise record. He became the second SWB hitter to stroke three two-baggers in a game this season after Austin turned the trick against Columbus on June 10.

The RailRiders turn to left-hander Jordan Montgomery (0-1, 2.70) on Sunday, August 7, as they eye a series sweep of the Syracuse Chiefs at PNC Field. Right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (2-0, 1.80) throws for Syrascuse. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
