The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and BUSH’S Beans Team-Up Against Hunger
Two organizations come together with the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank to fight hunger in the NEPA community
MOOSIC, Pa. and KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (July 13, 2018) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and BUSH’S® Beans are working with the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank and CEO (The Commission on Economic Opportunity) to “Team Up Against Hunger.” In its second year, this program encourages fans to bring non-perishable food donations to PNC Field on July 15th and 29th and, in turn, fans will receive a FREE Lawn Ticket on Sunday July 15th and on the 29th fans will receive 1 entry into a grand prize drawing to win either a Chance Adams autographed bobble head, a Clint Frazier autographed bobble head, OR a 2018 RailRiders team signed baseball for helping to feed the local community through the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank. Ninety Minor League Baseball™(MiLB) clubs across the country will “Team Up Against Hunger” throughout the month of July. The month is significant as it marks the middle of summer break and a crucial time when millions of children are not receiving free or reduced-price meals at their schools as they do when school is in session.
“We are honored to partner with BUSH’S Beans and the Weinberg Food Bank to bring the issue of hunger to light using our MiLB platform,” said Jordan Maydole, RailRiders Director of Community Relations. “This is one great way to bring the community together to show that we are united in the fight against hunger in our hometown. We are grateful to Minor League Baseball and BUSH’S Beans for joining us in a cause that is so near to our hearts and the hearts of this community.”
“As a family-owned food company, it is important to everyone at BUSH’S to help hungry families,” said Mike Morris, consumer experience manager at Bush Brothers & Co. “Working with Minor League Baseball and communities nationwide helps bring attention and action to a very important topic – beating hunger.”
“CEO’s Weinberg Food Bank is happy to be working with the RailRiders again to help combat hunger in our community. Hunger is an issue that is widespread and food drives are just one of the ways we try to get the community involved to acquire more food to distribute to those in need,” says Roderick Blaine, Director of Administration for the Commission on Economic Opportunity. “Anyone donating food is a community partner as well and we are very thankful for their assistance.”
