High-Five: Season-High Five Home Runs Power 14-2 Win
Mark Payton (2 HR) and Ryan McBroom (5-for-6) key offensive explosion

SYRACUSE, NY (June 15, 2018) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Syracuse Chiefs 14-2 on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.  After 
a hitless first inning for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, but then the hits never stopped coming.

The RailRiders offense unloaded on Syracuse pitching starting in the second inning and didn’t let up the rest of the night – to the tune of a season-high 14 runs on a season-high 20 hits, which included a season-high five home runs.


Ryan McBroom became the first RailRider to notch a five-hit game this season when he singled into left field in the 9
th inning (5-for-6, 2B, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI). In six games since the start of the week, McBroom is 14-for-25 with 5 R, 2 HR and 10 RBI as he tries to position himself for the next International League Player of the Week.
 
Mark Payton (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI) also had a strong night, blasting a pair of home runs for his second career multi-homer game – 7/2/2017 @ Pawtucket. Brandon Drury finished 4-for-6 with three runs and two runs batted in as well to raise his season average with the RailRiders to .344 in 37 games.
 
Including the 10th inning Thursday night, SWB’s offense has scored 20 runs on 25 hits (25-for-52, .481 AVG) in the last 10 innings.

The offense overshadowed a strong start by Josh Rogers who spun seven scoreless innings for his sixth win of the season. He allowed three hits to the first eight men he faced, before holding Syracuse 0-for-16 over the balance of his outing. 


It was a scoreless 8
th inning from Tommy Kahnle in back of Rogers, before the Chiefs plated their only two runs in the game with one out in the 9th inning off Giovanny Gallegos.

With the win, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has won 5-out-of-6 games for the first time at any point this season.

 
The RailRiders continue their four-game series with the Chiefs Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium. RHP David Hale (3-2, 4.69) toes the slab for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Syracuse sends RHP Austin Voth (4-4, 4.37) to the mound. Pregame coverage with Adam Marco and Adam Giardino begins at 6:35 p.m.
