Suspended- 4th Inning
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (June 22, 2018) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game against the Rochester Red Wings on Sunday afternoon was suspended in the middle of the fourth. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre held a 4-1 lead when the game went into a delay.
Jake Cave, a former RailRider, hit s solo home run off Chance Adams in the bottom of the first. In the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre half of the third, Tyler Austin hit an opposite-field home run to right to push the RailRiders ahead. Zack Zehner doubled in Kyle Higashioka in the fourth to extend the lead.
There was a 17-minute delay between the top and bottom of the second to work on the playing surface with rain falling throughout the first three half innings. The tarp was put on after the top of the fourth and play would not resume.
Sunday’s game will be continued on July 30 at 5:05 p.m. when the RailRiders return to Frontier Field in late July. The June 24 game will be played to a complete nine innings with a seven-inning nightcap to follow.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre travels to Lehigh Valley for a four-game set that begins on Monday night. Josh Rogers (6-5, 3.35) will start for the RailRiders against the IronPigs and Enyel de los Santos (7-3, 1.63). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
