Indianapolis  7     Scranton/Wilkes-Barre  3

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 3, 2018)
 –  The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 7-3 to the Indianapolis Indians on Sunday at Victory Field.  The RailRiders built an early lead, but the Indians plated five runs in the second to help clinch the three-game series.

The RailRiders took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first against Tyler Eppler.  Tyler Wade singled and Mark Payton walked.  Wade scored on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error and Payton crossed on a sac fly from Ronald Torreyes.

Christopher Bostick hit a solo home run off Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Josh Rogers in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to one.  Indianapolis earned the deficit with a five-run second, sending all nine batters to the plate.  Ryan Lavarnway hit a two-run home run to push the Indians ahead 3-2.  Rogers surrendered three additional runs on four more hits in the inning before being lifted in favor of Nestor Cortes.

Eric Wood extended the Indianapolis lead with a solo home run off Cortes in the bottom of the third.

In the fifth, Tyler Wade doubled and advanced to third on a double by Brandon Drury. A Ronald Torreyes sacrifice fly cut the Indians lead down to 7-3.

Rogers (5-4) took the loss after allowing the first six runs on nine hits over an inning and a third; his shortest outing of the season.  Eppler (5-2) earned the win with a quality start, working six innings of three-run, four-hit ball.

The RailRiders split their six-game roadtrip with two wins at Louisville and by winning the series opener on Friday at Indianapolis.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is off on Monday and opens a 10-game, nine-day homestand against Durham on Tuesday, June 5.  The RailRiders will also host the Louisville Bats and the Rochester Red Wings during the homestand.  Tickets are available online at swbrailriders.com
