RAILRIDERS SUFFER LOSS TO BULLS

Bird Goes Deep Twice in Loss
Greg Bird Launches Two Homers, Drives in Three

Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) fell to the Durham Bulls 10-6 on Friday night at PNC Field. The loss was the third in four games at home for the RailRiders (78-46) while the Bulls (76-48) improved to 3-2 against SWB.

Nestor Cortes (1-3) shouldered the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in his 3.2 innings of work. He walked three and struck out four. The RailRiders allowed five combined inherited runners to score. Bulls’ reliever Jeff Ames (1-1) took the win after working around two walks for a scoreless inning-and-a-third.

Greg Bird highlighted the offense by clubbing two homers. His first was a solo shot to right-center in the first inning. He came back with a majestic two-run shot off the RailHouse roof beyond right field in the third. Bird is 4-for-10 through three games on the rehab assignment with two long balls and four RBI.

Starlin Castro began his rehab assignment with SWB by serving as designated hitter for all nine innings. Castro was 0-for-4 with a walk. Catcher Kyle Higashioka appeared in his first game with SWB since late June and finished 0-for-4.

Cale Coshow made his Triple-A debut with SWB. He allowed one run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 2.1 frames.
