Bisons Nip RailRiders to End Streak
Bryan Mitchell Fans Triple-A Career-Best 11 Batters
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) fell to the Buffalo Bisons, 3-1, on Wednesday at PNC Field. The Bisons (46-64) severed a 13-game losing streak to the RailRiders (69-40) with the win.
Bryan Mitchell (2-3) absorbed a tough-luck loss after allowing three runs on four hits, all in the fourth inning. The right-hander struck out a Triple-A career-high 11 hitters over 7.2 innings while walking two. T.J. House (8-10) worked around eight hits to limit SWB to one run over 6.1 innings. Chris Smith earned his sixth save with Buffalo by working a scoreless ninth.
The RailRIders only run came in the second. Donovan Solano singled to right and raced home on a double to right-center by Ji-Man Choi.
Aaron Hicks played five innings in center field on rehab assignment with SWB and finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a first inning single.
Jake Cave singled to left in the first inning and finished 1-for-3 with a walk. He extended his hitting streak to 17 games and has hit safely in 22 consecutive games at PNC Field.
Miguel Andujar finished 1-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 16 games on a third-inning single.
The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders conclude their series with the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday, August 3. Left-hander Caleb Smith (8-0, 2.07) gets the nod in his Triple-A return against right-hander Nick Tepesch (0-0, 2.57).
