RailRiders First Baseman Cranks Deep Fly in Second Straight Game
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) settled for a series split with the Syracuse Chiefs, falling 5-2 on Wednesday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (43-28) have won six of their last eight. With the win, the Chiefs improved to 23-46.
Domingo Acevedo (1-1) shouldered his first loss with SWB after surrendering five runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. The right-hander issued three walks and struck out four. Sean O’Sullivan (1-1) dealt a quality start by limiting the RailRiders to two runs and six hits across six frames. He walked two and struck out five. Wander Suero collected the final six outs for his third save.
Tyler Austin provided the RailRiders’ only runs in the sixth when he smashed a deep fly off the left-field foul pole. Dustin Fowler scored on the round-tripper, Austin’s second home run in as many days. Fowler finished with two hits. Miguel Andujar also tallied two hits and worked a walk.
The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders begin a weekend series with the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) on Thursday, June 22. First pitch at PNC Field is set for 7:05 p.m. The RailRiders will start right-hander Chance Adams (4-2, 2.43) against right-hander Kyle Kendrick (2-3, 5.93).
