Weed Steps Down as Rumble Ponies General Manager
BINGHAMTON, NY – Jim Weed has voluntarily stepped down from his position as General Manager of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to pursue another career opportunity in the Southern Tier. Weed had served as the team’s general manager since 2010.
Team President John Hughes acknowledge the contributions. “It’s a tough day for the organization,” said Hughes. “Jim Weed made immeasurable contributions to the team over the years. I stand by and support his decision. Family comes first and this was a decision made for family reasons. The upside to the change is the organization is in a position to continue to grow and evolve.”
During his 21-year tenure with the organization Weed served as the Assistant General Manager/Director of Food and Beverage (2005-2009) and Director of Ticket Operations (1997-2004). He started his time with the then-named Binghamton Mets as a ticket intern in 1996.
Weed has accepted a new position in the Southern Tier and will remain in the immediate area with his family.
Hughes continues to have a bright outlook saying, “I have full confidence in the organization going forward. We have a young staff with a great deal of drive, potential and confidence. Great things will continue to happen at NYSEG stadium.”
The general manger position will remain vacant for the remained of the season. John Bayne, the Assistant General Manager, will oversee business operations while Tyler Jennings, the Sports Turf Manager, will head all baseball operations.
