SWB Surges Over .500, Shuts Out Tribe Again
Scoreless-Innings Streak Pushed to 20, Frazier Homers
Indianapolis, Ind.
– The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) shut out the
Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates) for a second straight night at
Victory Field, again 1-0. SWB (8-7) posted its third shutout victory of
the season and its fifth win in six games to secure its first winning
record of 2017. The pitching staff has not allowed a run in 20
consecutive innings. Indianapolis (4-12) has lost 12 of its last 14 and
owns the worst record in the minors.
For the second
straight night, the game’s only run came on a two-out extra-base hit in
the third inning. On Saturday, outfielder Clint Frazier smashed
his second homer of the season into the teeth of the wind, clearing the
left-field fence against starter Josh Lindblom (0-2).
Southpaw Dan Camarena (1-0)
took over from there. Called up from Double-A earlier in the day,
Camarena faced two over the minimum during his 6.1 innings of three-hit,
scoreless baseball. He struck out five and walked none.
Tyler Jones stranded an inherited runner in the seventh and fired a perfect eighth, striking out each of the last four men he faced. Ernesto Frieri tossed a perfect ninth for his second save.
The three-game series concludes at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. SWB’s Brady Lail (1-0, 6.75) faces fellow right-hander Drew Hutchison (0-1, 5.51). The
RailRiders return home on April 25 to host Louisville at PNC Field at
6:35 p.m. The $2 Tuesday promotion allows fans to enjoy $2 lawn tickets
and $2 tallboys every Tuesday, presented by La Tolteca. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
