Bats Avoid Sweep, Claim Series Finale
Perez Posts Inside-The-Park Homer for Louisville
Louisville, Ky.
– The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) suffered a 9-1 setback
in their Thursday night series finale against the Louisville Bats
(Cincinnati Reds) at Louisville Slugger Field. SWB (6-7) still won the set, taking two of three, while Louisville (6-8) snapped a five-game losing streak at home.
The RailRiders’ lone run gave them a 1-0 lead when Ruben Tejada’s single plated Donovan Solano in the second inning.
The Bats took control from there, plating three in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.
The highlight blows
were delivered by Juan Perez. The leadoff man connected on an
inside-the-park homer in the fourth and cleared the fences with a solo
shot in the sixth.
SWB committed a season-worst four errors and only three of Louisville’s nine runs were earned.
Reliever Evan Mitchell (1-1) got the win and Luis Cessa (1-2) suffered the loss.
The
RailRiders’ road trip shifts to Indianapolis for a three-game series
against the Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates). It gets underway at 7:15 p.m.
on Friday night at Victory Field with SWB right-hander Chad Green (1-1, 3.00) opposing fellow righty Josh Lindblom (0-1, 3.27). The
