Tyler Wade Tallies Four Hits in RailRiders Win
Mark Payton Earns Second Straight Three-Hit Night
Moosic, Pa. – Shortstop Tyler Wade was
among several to have big nights at the plate in a 10-6 victory for the
SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) over the Lehigh Valley
IronPigs at PNC Field. The win bumps the RailRiders to 2-4 on the young
season. The IronPigs fall to 3-4.
Wade finished his night 4-5 with stolen bases and his first Triple-A RBI. Wade now has a hit in nine of his last 11 at-bats. Mark Payton tallied three hits for the second straight game, including a double and an RBI.
Tyler Webb (1-0) came through with a big relief appearance to
help calm an IronPigs rally. The left-hander held Lehigh Valley
scoreless over 3.2 innings. He allowed one hit and struck out six. Jake
Thompson (0-2) was hit hard in his second start with Lehigh Valley,
surrendering six runs on seven hits in just 2.1 innings.
SWB plated the first two runs in the second on a single by Donovan Solano and a sac-fly to center by Tyler Wade. The fifth inning saw the RailRIders score five more, highlighted by a three-run homer to left off the bat of Ruben Tejada.
The IronPigs rallied to cut the deficit to one thanks to four runs in
the fourth and two more in the fifth. Webb calmed the game and allowed
SWB to respond.
Tejada scored a pivotal run in the seventh when he tagged third and raced home on a fly ball to medium right by Clint Frazier. Eddy Rodriguez provided the finishing touches with a two-run double in the eighth.
Brady Lail toed the rubber for the first time in 2017. The
RailRiders’ right-hander allowed six runs, five earned, on eight hits
with one walk and three strikeouts.
The RailRiders look for a series win against the Lehigh
Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, April
13. A
