Fowler Caps Cycle with Walk-off Home Run
Dustin Fowler Goes 5-for-6 and Belts Game-Winner
Moosic, Pa. – A career day for outfielder Dustin Fowler helped
the SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) defeat the Indianapolis
Indians 7-6 in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. The
RailRiders (12-10) captured the weekend series and finished 4-2 against
the Indians (7-15). Fowler matched a franchise record with his first
career five-hit game.
Playing in center field, Fowler started his day with a first inning triple to right-center and scored on a base hit by Ji-Man Choi. His second hit was a double to right field that scored Tyler Wade.
Fowler lined a single to center in the seventh and doubled for his
fourth hit in the ninth inning. With one away in the 11th, Fowler
launched his fourth homer of the season out to right off Angel Sanchez
(0-2) to send the crowd home elated.
The RailRiders’ bullpen of Tyler Webb, Chasen Shreve, Giovanny Gallegos, Ben Heller and Ernesto Frieri
combined for 7.2 scoreless frames. Frieri (1-0) took home his first win
with SWB after pitching 1.1 frames. The right-hander yielded one hit,
struck out three and walked two.
Clint Frazier launched his third round-tripper of the year out to left in the third inning for a 4-3 lead.
The
2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders hit the road for a
three-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Tuesday, May 2. First pitch at Coca-Cola Park is set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Luis Cessa (1-2, 1.54) will oppose right-hander Mark Appel (1-2, 6.11). SWB returns home next Thursday, May 5, with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch for Glow in the Park Night and a Cinco de Mayo celebration.
