Pennsylvania’s Rick Graham, Hall of Famer Ron Mohr Top
PBA50 Mooresville Open Qualifying After First Round

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (April 29, 2019) – Part-time PBA50 Tour player Rick Graham of Lancaster, Pennsylvania bowled a 1,926 pinfall for eight games Monday to lead the first round of the PBA50 Mooresville Open presented by the Mooresville Convention & Visitors Bureau and Storm.

Graham, who works full-time for a printing company, averaged 240 for the round bowling games of 235, 270, 241, 200, 246, 228, 247 and 259 at Victory Lanes Family Entertainment Center to lead PBA Hall of Famer and two-time PBA50 Player of the Year Ron Mohr of Las Vegas in second, who finished with a 1,919 pinfall with games of 244, 259, 246, 227, 214, 218, 266 and 245.

“I had a good read right from the start,” said the 51-year-old Graham, who used one ball for the entire round. “I just adjusted my speed and moved left or right on the lane depending on the pair.

“I was very relaxed and everything was very consistent,” added Graham, who owns three regular PBA regional and one PBA50 regional title. “I’m going to start with the same ball in the second round and see how it goes. I didn’t have a lot of expectations coming in so I’m just taking it one game at a time.”

Graham’s best PBA50 Tour finish was 25th in last season’s Johnny Petraglia BVL Open.

Rounding out the top eight after the first round were Tom Carter, Columbus, Ohio, 1,914; John Marsala, St. Louis, Missouri, 1,901; reigning PBA50 Player of the Year Michael Haugen Jr., Phoenix, 1,872; PBA Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III, Jackson, New Jersey, 1,861; 2017 PBA50 Player of the Year Brian LeClair, Albany, New York, 1,859, and Tony Johnson, Canton, Ohio, 1,857.

Defending champion PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss of Centennial, Colorado, finished the round in 37th with a 1,774 pinfall and hall of famer Walter Ray Williams Jr., of Oxford, Florida, who is coming off two wins to start the season, got off to a slow start finishing the day 55th with 1,736.

Competition continues Tuesday with another eight-game qualifying round beginning at 9 a.m. ET.  Casher’s and match play rounds get underway Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., which will determine the five players for the stepladder finals at 7 p.m.
