Drury Smash: Grand slam lifts RailRiders to DH split
Rogers’ complete-game shutout essential in Game Two victory
MOOSIC, Pa. (May 11, 2018) – A late Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders home run in Game One of Friday’s doubleheader forced extra innings in an eventual loss, and a big RailRiders home run in Game Two of the doubleheader was all the offense LHP Josh Rogers needed to help SWB to a split with the Rochester Red Wings.
In Game Two, Rogers was outstanding in tossing a complete-game, seven-inning shutout of the Red Wings. On just 91 pitches he carved up the lineup to the tune of four hits and a walk while striking out five men. He collected his third win of the season, matching Brady Lail for the team lead, and lowered his season ERA to 2.61 which sits just outside the Top-10 in the International League.

The real punch though was delivered by Brandon Drury whose rehab assignment was transferred back to the RailRiders and continued Friday night. After two runs were already home in the second inning, Drury crunched a grand slam to left field that gave SWB a 6-0 lead en route to a 7-0 win.
Drury reached in both games of the doubleheader and has now reached in all 10 games in which he has played for the RailRiders. Meanwhile, Clint Frazier put up an impressive performance in Game Two, finishing 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk and a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th inning to extend the lead to 7-0.
Game One was a different story where the RailRiders used a two-run homer by Erik Kratz to tie the game 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Once the game went to extras, Rochester put two runs on the board and though the RailRiders rallied with a run of their own, Ryan McBroom was stranded at first base as the game’s tying run when Adam Lind lined out to end the game with a 5-4 loss.
Earlier in Game One, Mike Ford homered for the third time this season and for the first time at PNC Field this season. It gave the RailRiders a 1-0 lead and was part of a 2-RBI performance in the game.
First pitch for Saturday’s game between the Scranon/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and Rochester Red Wings is set for 4:05 p.m. LHP Daniel Camarena (2-1, 4.66) gets the ball for the RailRiders against RHP Myles Jaye (1-2, 5.92) in his first season in the Minnesota Twins organization.
