McKinney Triples as ‘Riders Roll Bisons
Culver Triples Twice
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) upped their scoreless innings streak against the Buffalo Bisons to 23 frames in a 7-0 victory on Tuesday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (52-32) have won three straight overall and six in a row against the Bisons (37-48).
Caleb Smith (8-0) sparkled over five scoreless frames, limiting the Bisons to a pair hits and a walk. He struck out six. Brett Oberholter (1-6) was hit for seven runs on nine hits over his 6.2 innings. Giovanny Gallegos returned from a stint on the disabled list to toss a perfect frame. Brady Lail finished the game with three scoreless innings for his first career save.
SWB got on the board in the first when Jake Cave reached on a double to center. Following a walk to Donovan Solano, Billy McKinney bashed a two-run triple off the left field wall. Billy Fleming followed with a run-producing double to left for a 3-0 lead.
Cito Culver opened the third with his first triple, a smoked liner to center, and scored on a single by Miguel Andujar. Culver tripled home two runs in the seventh, matching the franchise record for three-baggers in a single game. Solano polished off the scoring by plating Culver on a single.
The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders continue their series with the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) on Wednesday, July 5. A first pitch of 7:05 p.m. will feature right-hander Bryan Mitchell (1-2, 4.18) against left-hander T.J. House (6-7, 4.34).
