Ponies Blanked by Fisher Cats in Pitchers’ Duel
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1-0 Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Christian Williams drove in the lone run of the game with an RBI single to right in the fourth inning.
New Hampshire’s (22-32, 53-68) rally came with one out in the fourth. Chad Spanberger drew a walk off David Peterson, and Kevin Smith followed with a single. Williams followed with a base hit to bring Spanberger home for his 20th RBI of the year.
The Rumble Ponies (25-31, 60-60) left seven runners aboard, including two in each of the fourth, fifth and ninth innings. Their best scoring chance came in the bottom of the fifth. Gavin Cecchini and Quinn Brodey led the inning off with back-to-back singles. The inning came to an end without any runs crossing the plate after a fielder’s choice, a strikeout and a flyout.
Righty Yennsy Diaz (9-8) picked up the win as he sprinkled three hits and four strikeouts over five innings. Peterson (3-5) took the loss as he allowed one run on five hits and three strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Dany Jimenez recorded his fourth save after shutting the door in the ninth.

POSTGAME NOTES: David Thompson recorded two of the Ponies’ four hits… Williams and Cullen Large each tallied two hits for the Fisher Cats… The Ponies have scored just three runs over the first three games of the series.
