GOLFING HIGHLIGHTS 8-16-19

Lumberjack Pass

Miniature Golf comes in many shapes and sizes and if my memory serves me correct this is the first time I have ever written about a miniature golf course in this golf column.
So Lumberjack Pass at Lake George first caught our eyesight as we were driving on Route 9 outside of the village limits because it not only offered a tremendous offer of mini golf for $5.95 but after you are finished playing 18 holes on this beautiful course you get a free soft ice cream cone of your choice.
This unique miniature golf facility is the closest thing to being  a regular golf course as it offers 18 championship holes, a practice green and a natural stone waterfall.
It's the only par 3 course I have ever seen that has a par 4 on the 47 foot 13th hole. The 18 holes is a total of 800 feet and par golf is 44. I shot a 49.
Lumberjack Pass Miniature Golf is No. 5 ranked in the top 10 craziest mini golf courses on earth by entertainmentdesigner.com and offers a beautiful Lake George Adirondack setting and is built on an acre of lushly landscaped Adirondack beauty.
While playing the game you can listen to the soothing sounds of the streams and natural stone waterfall.
Owner Mary Giella noted that the facility was opened in 2001 and that their vision for the course was to incorporate design features that are found on a regulation golf course...undulations, sand traps, water hazards...while making sure that the holes did not play the same way over and over again and that they chose their location based on elevation and size. This facility is family owned and also offers a full ice cream and food menu.
They excavated and built from the ground up and used a Harrison Wild Wood design.
Hole # 13 is the only par four on the course and presnts a challenge to most players...the key is to hit the right side of the rock so that the ball does not roll back down. Hole # 16 is the most popular water hazard hole as the dog leg lies right along a fast moving stream that becomes home to many player's golf balls.
This is definitely a fun-filled miniature golf experience that everyone can enjoy.....even ardent golfers. When in the area give Mary a call at 518-793-7141.
