Canseco and Henderson highlight 2018 Legends Series
Schedule will feature six dates with appearances and autograph sessions at PNC Field
Moosic, Pa. (March 15, 2018) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, are pleased to announce that Jose Canseco and Rickey Henderson will headline the 2018 Legends Series at PNC Field. Longtime Major Leaguer and YES Network broadcaster John Flaherty round out the first half of Legends Series, which consists of six dates with former players and celebrity appearances spread out through the course of the season.
Canseco, the 1988 American League Most Valuable Player and a six-time All-Star, is slated to appear on Tuesday, June 19. He will participate in a pre-game home run derby contest prior to signing autographs during the game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Canseco played 17 seasons in the Majors, including a portion of the 2000 season for the Yankees. Fans purchasing Opening Day or season tickets in person at PNC Field this Saturday will be eligible to win a drawing for one spot in the home run derby contest.Canseco will need to clear the outfield fence while his competition will be given a distinct advantage or two.
Henderson is schedule to appear at PNC Field on Friday, June 30, during a game against Pawtucket. He was the 1990 AL M.V.P., a 10-time All-Star during his Major League career and inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009 after receiving 94.8 % of the vote on his first ballot.
Flaherty will make an appearance on August 3 when the RailRiders host Buffalo. He was drafted by Boston in 1988 and made his Major League debut four years later for the Red Sox. After a five year-run with Tampa Bay, Flaherty signed with the Yankees and played three seasons for New York before retiring. He is now a staple of the Old-Timers Day lineups at Yankee Stadium and serves as an color analyst on Yankees broadcasts and several YES Network shows.
