STATE PAGEANT TITLE
CALLICOON--Miss Teen Callicoon 17-year-old Kayla Rivera is the new 2011 Miss Teen New York International and will compete for the International title held July 25-30, 2011 in Chicago.
She won the competition in the finals held October 9 at the Villa Roma Resort & Conference Center and replaces 2010 queen Adrionna Sherwood. A resident from Callicoon she is a senior at the Keystone On-Line High School and is also taking classes at Sullivan County Community College.
Miss Thunder Country Stacey Minchin, 24, of Elmira won the title of 2011 Miss New York International. Stacey won the Thunder 102 Radio Station Pageant this year, is a 2008 graduate of Mercyhurst College and is employed by WETM TV. She replaces 2010 queen Jacquelin Brooks.
Mrs. Long Island Sheila McKinney is the new 2011 Mrs. New York International and replaces 2010 queen Rachel Raybourn.
Each contestant competed through interviews, fun fashion , aerobic wear and evening gown competition.
This International pageant system was developed to have higher standards than other pageant systems and showcases the Mrs. International for women 21-56 years of age, the Miss International for single women ages 19 to 29 years of age and the Miss Teen International for women ages 13 to 18 years of age.
Prior to the establishment of this pageant, representatives from New York were chosen at-large to represent the Empire State in Chicago.
The state director of this pageant is Jodi Cessna with volunteer assistance from Amy Bernhardt, Christina Buckler, Barbara Burns, Herb Clark, Roberta Bryon-Lockwood and Kevin Dowdell. Pageant producer was Scott Cessna, emcee was Sami Cessna and judges' coordinator was Debi Swarmer.
Judges for this pageant included Kristin Muri, Brielle LaCosta, George Medairy, Yasmine Shaffie and Debra Muri.
Jodi Cessna gave high praise to the Villa Roma staff and their accommodations and indicated the pageant is looking to return here in the fall of 2011.
