TRI-VALLEY COMPETITION NIGHT
GRAHAMSVILLE--The Tri-Valley Junior Class of 2013 are repeat champions of the 36th Annual Tri-Valley Competition Night held Friday March 9 in the high school gym.
The same class won the Competition Night championship as Sophomores last year.
The annual event filled the gym with a standing-room only crowd and featured all four high school grades 9-12 along with Bill O'Morrissey as Master of Ceremonies, Kathi Smith and Kevin Giroux as score keepers and Jeanne Fiedler, Derek Adams, Tyler Eckhoff, Mellonee Cappiello, Beth Rice, Karen Andrews, Cory Turner and Christopher Smith serving as referees and judges.
Events consisted of the Obstacle Course, Crab Soccer, Cage Ball, Relay, Tug of War, Brain Teaser and Lip Sync(skits).
The Class of 2015 has 87 members, Class of 2014 has 94 members, Class of 2013 has 81 members and the Class of 2012 has 97 members.
Points for each class was awarded for spirit week and participation, decoration and lip sync (skits), point for all events, sportsmanship points and the canned food drive challenge.
In the Obstacle Course event the Seniors won 2 points, Juniors 3, Sophomores 5 and Freshman 1. The Crab Soccer event saw 5 points go to the Freshman Sophomore class, 1 to the Sophomores, 3 to the Juniors and 1 to the Seniors. The Freshman class won 5 points in the Cage Ball event, 3 points to the Sophomore Class, 1 to the Junior class and 1 to the senior class.
The Relay Race was won by the Senior Class with 5 points, Junior Class 1 point, Sophomore Class with 3 points and the Freshman Class with 2 points. The Tug of War event went to the Senior class with 5 points, 3 points to the Junior Class, and 1 point each to the Sophomore and Freshman Class.
In the Decoration category the Junior class again prevailed with 10 points, Seniors 5, Sophomores 1 and Freshman 3.
The Lip-Sync (skits) event went to the Juniors with 10 points, Seniors 5, Sophomores 3 and Freshman 1. Spirit week points was won by the Freshman 4, Seniors 3 points, Juniors 1 point and Sophomores 2 points. Sportsmanship points saw the Freshman and Sophomores with 5 points each and the Juniors and Seniors with 4 points each.
In the Brain Teaser event 5 points went to both the Juniors and Seniors with 0 points to the Freshman and Sophomores.
Total points which include participation and canned goods donations gave the overall championship to the Junior class with 46 points, second place to the Senior class with 43 points, third place to the Freshman with 31 points and fourth place to the Sophomores with 26 points.

Three-year old Kaylee Shafarsky Taubl was dancing and twirling her balloon enjoying the competition night events. She is the daughter of Carrolann and Stephen Taubl from the Town of Neversink.
