HOWARD STERN SHOW’S “SCOTT THE ENGINEER” TO APPEAR ON SUNDAY'S ESPN VIPER TELECAST
“Scott the Engineer” Salem became the nation’s most famous “everyday league bowler” during the Professional Bowlers Association World Series of Bowling, attracting an all-new audience of fans to PBA competition.

Salem, the long-time engineer for the Howard Stern Show on Sirius Radio and veteran league bowler in New Jersey, bowled the entire 60-game qualifying segment of the PBA World Series. His experiences will be highlighted during the ESPN coverage of the Pepsi Viper Championship Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

During the World Series, and the weeks leading up to his participation, Salem and Stern talked almost daily about his expectations and his performance on Stern’s radio show. Howard TV also aired nightly video highlights, and there were additional exposures for the PBA and bowling on Howard 100 News.

GARBER, PETRAGLIA, BAKER GRANTED PBA COMMISSIONER’S EXEMPTIONS
Wayne Garber of Modesto, Calif., who had second- and fourth-place finishes as a 42-year-old Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour rookie during the 2009-10 season, has been awarded a PBA Commissioner’s Exemption to bowl in the Earl Anthony Memorial Jan. 24-30 at Earl Anthony’s Dublin Bowl in Dublin, Calif..

Also granted Commissioner’s Exemptions by PBA CEO and Commissioner Fred Schreyer are PBA Hall of Famers Johnny Petraglia of Jackson, N.J., and Tom Baker of King, N.C., for the GEICO Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship March 1-6 at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga, N.Y.

ADRIENNE MILLER ELIGIBLE TO JOIN FATHER MIKE IN PBA TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

Former PBA Women’s Series competitor Adrienne Miller of Albuquerque, N.M., is now eligible to join her father, three-time PBA Tour champion Mike Miller, in the field for the $1 million PBA Tournament of Champions, Jan. 15-22, at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas.

Adrienne Miller, a former collegiate All-American at the University of Nebraska, defeated Miguel Rosales of Anaheim, Calif., 193-179, to win the PBA West Region Non-Champions Tournament at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas on Nov. 12, becoming eligible to enter the richest tournament in PBA history. Neither has entered at this point, but Adrienne is definitely planning to bowl and is prodding her father to enter as well. If they do, the Millers would become the first father-daughter tandem ever to compete in the Tournament of Champions.

“I am definitely bowling the TOC and I'm trying super hard to get my dad to bowl as well,” Adrienne said. “I think he was planning on it until he had a slight injury with his wrist, so I think it depends on what is going on with that.”

In other PBA Regional action, Michael Friedrichs of Glendale, Ariz., and Mathew Jones of Avondale, Ariz., defeated Greg Thompson Jr. of Dublin, Calif., and Josh Blanchard of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., 485-381, to win the PBA West Region’s Member/Non-Member Doubles which followed the Non-Champions singles event at South Point. It was the second time Friedrichs and Jones have teamed up to win the event.

In the Southwest Region, Rick Lawrence of Waxahachie, Texas, won his 14th PBA Regional title in the ninth annual Beaumont Open at Crossroads Bowling Center in Beaumont, Texas, on Nov. 28. Lawrence finished the 25-game tournament with a 9-3 match play record and 5,777 pins, including match play bonus pins, to defeat defending champion Derek Williams of Groves, Texas, by 136 pins to claim the $2,500 winner’s check.

A week earlier in Houston, Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas, defeated newly-relocated Steve Rogers of Houston, 222-196, to win the PBA Southwest Region Carol Norman Pro Shop U Can Bowl 2 Open at Del-Mar Lanes. The title was Malott’s first championship in the PBA Southwest Region this year, and his seventh career PBA Regional title. He also earned $2,200. Rogers formerly lived in Bourbonnais, Ill.

In the PBA South Region, 19-year-old Kyle Troup of Taylorsville, N.C., defeated Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour exempt player Ritchie Allen of Columbia, S..C., 202-195, to win the Surfside Open at Surfside Lanes in Surfside Beach, S.C., on Nov. 21. Troup, the son of eight-time PBA Tour titlist Guppy Troup, won his second South Region title of the year along with a $3,000 prize. He previously won the Ft. Jackson Non-Champions Open. Troup edged Bill O’Neill of Southampton, Pa., 192-185, to advance to the championship match..

In the PBA East Region, Steve Lickliter of Beaver, W.Va., defeated Sam Maccarone of Sewell, N.J., 206-180, to win the joint East/Central Region Brookville Lanes Senior Open presented by TJ’s Restaurant & Lounge at Brookville Lanes on Nov. 21. The win was Lickliter’s 15th in PBA regional competition. He also earned $1,500.

VOSS WINS BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL TITLE IN ROMANIA
PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss defeated Takis Karetsos of Greece, 2-0, in their best-of-three-game title match on Nov. 28 to win the 2,000 Euro top prize in the Bucharest International at IDM Club in Bucharest, Romania. Voss, who has found a second home bowling in Europe, had won the Czech Open earlier in the summer and finished third in the Barcelona Open in Spare.

The 25-time PBA Tour champion swept fellow PBA Tour exempt player Stuart Williams of England, 226-201 and 216-202, to advance to the title match.
