August 7, 2021 PBA Public Relations Dom Barrett Leads PBA Jonesboro Open into Cashers Round Eight-time PBA Tour champion averages 227.88 to lead all qualifiers Jonesboro, Ark.—Eight-time PBA Tour champion Dom Barrett leads 39 players advancing to cashers qualifying in the PBA Jonesboro Open at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center. Barrett averaged 227.88 through eight games of qualifying and holds a 13-pin advantage over second-place Michael Davidson entering tomorrow’s five-game cashers qualifying round. Barrett, who owns two major championships among his eight titles, has won PBA Tour titles in five different countries, but has yet to claim a title on the PBA Summer Tour. Three of the five former champions in Jonesboro advanced to cashers qualifying: François Lavoie (22nd), Andrew Anderson (27th) and Tommy Jones (28th). Norm Duke, who won in 2019, did not compete. Defending champion Kyle Troup missed the cut to cashers qualifying, finishing 60th. Also missing the cut were the top two players through two events in the PBA Summer Tour points race. EJ Tackett, who won the Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles with Danielle McEwan, finished 52nd. Close behind Tackett, in 54th, was PBA Lubbock Sports Open champion Shawn Maldonado. Competition resumes tomorrow with five games of cashers qualifying at 9:30 a.m. ET. Following cashers qualifying, the top 16 players advance to match play beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
