B-METS WINS 7-3

Gsellman Rocks, Offense Rolls in 7-3 Win
ERIE, PA – The Binghamton Mets offense erupted in a four-run fourth inning and Robert Gsellman tamed the Erie SeaWolves after a shaky start in a 7-3 win on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park. Xorge Carrillo’s three-run blast highlighted the big frame and pushed the B-Mets to their third straight victory.
Binghamton erased an early one-run deficit and knocked Erie starter Tommy Collier from the game in the fourth. With two aboard, Stefan Sabol threaded an RBI double down the right-field line, plating Matt Oberste from second base. Carrillo followed by ripping a three-run homer to left, his first long ball of the season.
Gsellman allowed five of the first eight batters he faced to reach before finding his groove. Following an RBI double by Austin Green in the second the righty mowed down eight straight SeaWolves and carried Binghamton’s three-run lead into the fifth before Connor Harrell ended the stretch with a single.
The B-Mets added to the lead in the fifth against the SeaWolves bullpen. Gabe Hemmer walked the bases loaded before Carrillo bounced into a run-producing double play. Kyle Johnson kicked the advantage to five by lining an RBI double to left, one of six Binghamton extra-base hits in the game.
Stefan Sabol, Carrillo and Johnson, the bottom three hitters in Binghamton’s order, combined for seven hits and six RBI. Sabol registered his first multiple-hit game as a B-Met, Carrillo finished a triple shy of the cycle and Johnson registered a pair of doubles.
As Binghamton’s offense poured on, Gsellman continued to roll through the SeaWolves lineup. The righty retired 15 of the final 17 batters he faced before ceding to the bullpen with two outs in the seventh. Erie plated two runs in the ninth before Kelly Secrest shut the door.
Gsellman (1-0) was touched for just one run on five hits over 6-2/3 innings to pick up his first win of the season. He walked one, struck out two and threw 65 of his 95 pitches for strikes. Collier (0-2) allowed four runs over 3-2/3 innings in his second loss.
