Becoming Irish For A Night

If you weren't Irish and were in attendance at the July 25 appearance of Celtic Woman at Bethel Woods it was certainly fashionable to become Irish as the musical group comprising of five Irish women displayed their repertoire that ranged from traditional Celtic tunes to modern songs.
Wow......and what a talented group they are as songs were sung with beautiful harmony, some in acappella and others with crafted background instrumentation that was accented with some of the best percussion we have ever heard.
This modern twist on the Celtic sound has been put together by Sharon Browne and David Downes, a former musical director of the Irish show Riverdance.
Current members of the group include four vocalists Lisa Kelly, Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary, Alex Sharpe and one of the most outstanding violinist that has ever graced the Bethel Woods stage, Mairead Nesbitt.
The quality of the vocalist singing solo songs would be difficult to match anywhere and throw in percussion that was more then outstanding, a bagpiper strolling down the center isle and Celtic Woman singing "songs from our hearts for you" made for an enjoyable and very warm summer evening at Bethel Woods that ended with lightning (the real kind), gusts of wind and a thunderstorm that quickly passed by.
Their rendition of "Amazing Grace" and a statement that "Ireland is one of the most beautiful places in the world," transformed Bethel Woods this night into blended Irish elements that brought a real touch of Ireland to the Catskills.

Nice review. Please note that Alex Sharpe left the group in May.
