Wes Malott Is Player Of The Year

Wes Malott backed into the title of 2008-09 PBA Player Of The Year last Sunday afternoon when defending Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year contenders Norm Duke and Chris Barnes lost in the stepladder finals to Mike Scroggins of Amarillo, Texas. The win for Scroggins won him his second career major and the 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open championship at Brunswick Zone Carolier in North Brunswick, NJ.
It was Scroggin's sixth career PBA Tour title; he won the 2005 United States Bowling Congress Masters for his first major victory also defeating Duke.
Scroggins defeated PBA Hall of Famer Duke 191-173 in the championship match to win the $100,000 first prize and three-year Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour exemption.
The 66th Lumber Liquidators U.S. Open marks the end of the regular season on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour.
